Project Brief: Light Through the Lens – Giving Hope to Ghana’s Marginalised Communities
“Light Through the Lens” is a social impact project designed to elevate the voices and visibility of marginalised communities in Ghana through the powerful medium of visual storytelling. These communities, including persons with albinism, individuals with disabilities, women and girls in rural areas, and other socially excluded groups who often experience systemic discrimination, stigma, and limited access to social and economic opportunities.
The project leverages photography and short documentary films to capture the lived realities, resilience, and aspirations of these groups. By presenting authentic and dignified narratives, “Light Through the Lens” seeks to challenge negative perceptions, inspire empathy, and advocate for inclusive policies and practices at both local and national levels.
Key components of the project include:
– Community Storytelling Workshops
– Exhibitions and Screenings
– Outreach and Education
– Digital Campaigns
Ultimately, “Light Through the Lens” is not just a creative initiative, it is a movement for dignity, equity, and visibility. By changing the narrative, it gives hope, opens minds, and builds a Ghana where every individual is seen, heard, and valued.
